Yes. We should be alive, vibrant beings, engaging with life, playing with life, living it as fully as possible. I see it as being almost like a two year old living, fully exploring the world, playing with the world, engaging but obviously with an adult perspective of wisdom and insight, and this is all the stuff that mindfulness gave me, I didn’t have this many years ago. Through mindfulness, I came alive, I started living life.
Before mindfulness I thought I was alive but, like most people, I was going through the motions of living - what I call the “Zombie state”. So, getting up in the morning, going to work, enjoying this, enjoying that but not really feeling or being alive, just going through the motions. After being introduced to mindfulness I felt more engaged in the world. I started being more, I started playing more, I started feeling a lot more, and that was my first introduction in terms of “being alive”.
