What are the self-love and mindfulness retreats really all about?

Mindfulness is about learning how to live fully in the now. It is not about doing tricks and strange practices to "be in the now."

We are always in the now, or at least our bodies are always in the now. It is living and experiencing this moment.

Mindfulness, especially on a retreat, is about sinking deeper into the reality. Really connecting with yourself and allowing yourself to really feel what being lived is like.

Self-Love is closely linked to mindfulness in that it is an attitude that we have towards ourselves, our lives and everything we do. On a retreat, the silence helps to really highlight how you relate to yourself. Self-Love is about bringing kindness and compassion to yourself. Treating yourself the way you would a young child that you love.

What to expect when you arrive at our retreats?

Peace, stillness, confronting yourself, growing in self-love and mindfulness. Once you arrive, there is nothing to do in terms of demands on you. The retreat is about allowing yourself to stop, be nurtured by the practices and the lovely food. Yes, food magically arrives on the table... Yummy, healing, nutritious food.

Our retreats are held in various locations. Te Moata is a lovely healing nature sanctuary. For those who love the outdoors and nature, Te Moata is surrounded by natural bush. There are opportunities to go for hikes, sit by the waterfall or stream... Connecting with nature and allowing it to re-set and re-new you.

Is it really silent, can I not speak?

Our retreats are semi-silent. The silence is only about creating an opportunity to become aware of the nature of our minds. There will be periods of talking, connecting, or not - the option is yours. And of course, if you need to talk to Bhavna or Pat, they are available.

If you need something from the service team, please talk to them. There are also opportunities to have one-to-one time with either Bhavna or Pat.

Do I need any mindfulness experience

No. This retreat is for both people with mindfulness experience and novice. Everything you need to know, will be shown to you during the retreat..

What is the focus of a retreat?

The focus of a retreat is on developing and growing in joy in your being, learning how to recognise joy even when there is pain, and using compassion and self love to heal some of the wounds you carry, so that by the end of the retreat, you will be born into your new being.

What happens if I can't sit and meditate?

The sitting practice is only a part of retreat, not all of it. You will be introduced to various mindfulness practices, and encouraged to use the one that best fits with you.
